  1. 1.The article basically implies that being a homosexual is not a choice for the human. It is based on certain brain cells that each individual has which was stated by researcher Simon LeVay.
2.Yes, because there are actual scientific studies that prove this conclusion to be true.
3.Yes, since that is the main topic of the article.
4.Are there the same signs for woman?
5.I would recommend that you do an abroad study with many different people and cultures to find out if this is definitely true or not.

  2. 1. It is gay men show cell distinction.
    2. Yes because there were plenty of research done for this paper.
    3. Yes because it explains the entire title.
    4. I really do not know about this question here.
    5. Is it really true? Or is this fake?
    6. That people need to do a whole lot of research before writing a paper.

  3. 1. The conclusion that the article implies is that being homosexual isn’t a matter of choice, but it is predetermined by your genes.
    2. I don’t think it is because they don’t really give you a lot of background information on the cells and it gave no solid evidence that it was true that this was the difference in homosexual men.
    3. Yes, it is because in the article it did explain that homosexual men showed certain cell distinction from heterosexual men.
    4. No, the study cannot prove whether being gay is a matter of choice or not because they don’t do enough research on that specific cell to determine if that is the distinction, which makes people straight.
    5. The only question that I have is: Are they going to continue to look at these cell distinctions and determine if what they have concluded is accurate or not?
    6. I would recommend a lot of time researching and experimenting before releasing any information to confirm the possibilities that may occur.

  5. 1. This article implies that it is very possible to be born gay. The statement that suggests this is “if used ethically, it can shed light on human sexuality and prove what we’ve always believed- being a gay or lesbian is not a matter of choice.”

    2. Maybe because anti gay groups could use this as a way of “repairing” homosexuals- the notion that gay people could be made straight by tweaking a chromosome here or readjusting a cell there.

    3. The title is accurate because there was a cell distinction between the gay and straight men.

    4. I’m not sure if it proves it, but it brings evidence to the belief. In my opinion I don’t believe being gay is a matter of choice.

    5. Are they going to continue to research this cell distinction in gay men?

    6. Just to be cautious that they do not offend anyone in the process of their reporting.

  6. The conclusion that this article implies is that being a homosexual is not a personal decision but rather neurological defect. The reason why I believed this is the articles implication is because Le Vay said, “ In the study of the brain cells from 25 people, certain brain cells of heterosexual men had a nuclei that were more than twice as large as those in homosexual men”. This shows me that there is something wrong inside the brain that causes homosexuality. This conclusion is warranted by study because they did scientific test and the conclusion was that it is a brain defect. Yes I do believe that the title is an accurate summary of the study described because it pretty much sums up the entire article. A question that I have after reading this article is how many different tests did researchers test and did they do people of all ethnicities? The only guideline that I would create for the press’s reports of a research study is that there must be multiple tests ran over a variety of ethnicities.

  7. 1. This article implies that heterosexual men’s cells are larger than homosexual cells. They said that homosexual cells are as big as women cells which may be the reason for them being gay.
    2. I don’t think that this study can tell u weather or not being gay or a lesbian is not a choice, I think that it just gives a reason why men could feel feminine.
    3. I think that the title does fit the article because the cells do make you wonder if this is the cause for homosexual.
    4. No this can’t prove homosexual because there are many reason why people being gay or a lesbian.
    5. No questions
6.i would recommend another experiment testing females.

  8. 1. This article implies that there may be a possibility that there is a “homosexual” gene. It shows that in the article by were it says “homosexual men’s cells are similar in size to a women’s.”
    2. Yes I think the conclusion is warranted because throughout the article it talks about how homosexual’s cells had so many cells related to women’s.
    3. Yes I think over all the title sums up just about everything this article was about.
    4. I do think that this article could provide back up to the thought of it not being a choice, but you would need more evidence than just this article alone. I don’t think it provides enough information to jump directly to that conclusion.
    5. What did the Aid’s section have to do with it?
    6. That they research more before presenting such serious information next time.

  9. 1. The conclusion implied is that being homosexual is not a choice. ”certain brain cells in heterosexual men had nuclei that were more than twice as large as those in homosexual men”.
    2. According to the study this conclusion is legit because they have conducted scientific research studies, therefore this conclusion seems to hold true.
    3. Yes, because it is the main topic.
    4. This study could prove it, but they have only done the study on men how do we know the same holds true for women.
    5. Would this study have the same results for women??
    6. I recommend that a study like this is done on more than one group, in order to find out if the study can be called true

  10. 1. This article implies that straight men's brain cells are larger than a gay man's cells.
    2. Yes i believe it is warranted because the article gives the information they tested and proved a point.
    3. I disagree with the title. I think the title should say Straight men show cell distinction because the article said that gay men's cells are similar in size to women's which means that if you put a gay man, a straight man, and a woman's cell in a group then the straight man's cell would stand out.
    4. I dont know because how early in a male's life will you be able to compare his cell to see what size it is.
    5. How early can you see that a man's cells look similar to a woman's. Will it look that way young or does it change in size as they start to live homosexually.
    6. To compare a man's brain cell with a womans.

  11. 1. This article implies that homosexuals compared to heterosexual men have different cell sizes in their brain. The article says that in a study of the brain cells from 41 people, 25 of whom had died from AIDS, certain brain cells of heterosexual men had nuclei that were more than twice as large as those in homosexual men.
    2. This conclusion is not justified because there was much not much research shown. They just give you a few pieces of their research.
    3. The title is an accurate summary because homosexual men did have a different ion their brain cells than heterosexual men.
    4. I don’t think this could prove whether being gay is not a matter of choice. It could explain some feminine attributes of men but not actually being gay.
    5. Will they continue to expand on their research or just be satisfied with what they already found out?
    6. I would recommend for research and experimenting.

  12. 1.The conclusion that this article implies is that some people can’t help being homosexual, it is in their nuclei. There was a statement made by Robert Bray, spokesman for the National Gay and Lesbian task force and he said: “if used ethically, (it) can shed light on human sexuality and prove that we’ve always believed-being a gay or lesbian is not a matter of choice. That shows that some people may not be able to curve their urge for the same sex.
    2. I don’t think the conclusion is valid at this point in their study. I think the Biologist need to do more research and studies because one experiment is not going to cut it.
    3. The title is fine; I just think they should not have mentioned Lesbians or gays in general if the article is solely based on gay men.
    4. The research could possible prove that being gay or lesbian is not a matter of choice. Biologist would have to do a lot more lab studies and observation in order to conclude that statement.
    5. Why are people so concerned with gay and lesbian people? Why do they continue to fight based on their personal sexual preference?
    6. If I had the power to create guidelines for the press’s reporting, I would let them do all their research they need to in order to find out the answers they’re searching for.

  13. The article suggests that being gay is not a choice. This is suggested by the statement: “homosexual men’s cells are similar in size to women’s”. This is warranted by the study because “male homosexuality is present in most human populations, despite cultural constraints” meaning that it is a trait that a few people have when comparing populations. I think that this title is indeed an accurate summary of the study because it tells the reader that there is a difference between “gay male cells” and “straight male cells”. I think that it can be proved by the study that being gay or lesbian is not a choice because they have seen the difference of the cells of homosexual individuals, but at the same time I think that it is not proven in all cases because there could be people who are homosexual because they decide to be that way. I have no questions about this article although it could be interesting to see for sure if being a homosexual is a choice or not. If I had the power to create guidelines for the press’ reporting, I would probably just keep it as it is as far as the bias go, at least for this article because it shows a little of both sides “ethical” and “unethical”. :O

  14. 1. The conclusion this article implies is that being gay or lesbian is not a choice, but it is a matter of genes and the chromosome you are given/not given. Some statemens that support this is that being gay or lesbian is not a matter of choice.
    2. I don’t think the conclusion is warranted by the study because the study didn’t make me understand why the nuclei was important. Also studying aids victims didn’t make sense to me.
    3. I don’t think the title matched the summary because they never explained the distinction.
    4. I am not sure if it can prove that being gay is not a matter of choice because I don’t think this was enough reaserch.
    5. How could you readjust someone being gay. Smh
    6. I would recommend goin over their research with an advisor before ever reveiling the results.

  15. 1. The conclusion that is being implied by this article is that perhaps some men are just or with the potential that they are very likely to become homosexual due to their brain cell nuclei. The statement in this article that suggests this conclusion is when the article said the difference in nuclei wasn’t cause by AIDS because it was constant in comparison to homosexual and heterosexual AIDS victims and they were also similar to those in women.
    2. I believe that this conclusion is warranted by the study because how else would male nuclei exactly compare with women more than other men?
    3. I don’t think that this title is accurate because they don’t have their own types of cells that can’t be compared, but rather they have similarities with those in women.
    4. I believe that it can because I don’t think there is a way in which people can control the size of their brain cells, therefore the size can very well be an explanation as to why homosexuality is their outcome.
    5. After reading this, the only question I have is why was it significant to do the study on victims of AIDS rather than just normal healthy males?
    6. If I had the power to create guidelines, I would want them to explain the situation in depth as to what led them to create the study and give a little more information.

  16. The conclusion that the article is coming to is implying is that you can tell by cells whether or not a male will become gay. “ in a study of the brain cells from 41 people, 25 of whom had died from AIDS, certain brain cells of heterosexual men had nuclei that were more than twice as large as those in homosexual men”. This study shows that it is possible to know whether they are straight or gay. I think that the title fits the article, although, I do believe that it is more of an attention grabber. I think that this could maybe help prove that you are born gay instead of it being more of a choice. After reading this article my question is could you detect this deficiency in babies and small children. The guidelines that I would request would be for the study to be tested longer and make it more diverse to get better results.
